Our pastors are men of compassion, scholarship, and grace who seek to glorify God and point the world to Christ. They are among the imperfect people who make up our church, believing and teaching that Jesus came to save sinners through His life, death, and resurrection. Our pastors desire to make disciples who seek to treasure and follow Jesus.
Pastor - Bethel Henderson
Originally from South Louisiana, Jacob moved to Dallas shortly after graduating from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA. Jacob and his wife Lauren were married in 2008 and have two children Brooks (9) and Aleece (6).
In 2013, their daughter Aleece, was unexpectedly born with a Congenital Heart Defect that has required several open heart surgeries. They have always had a strong faith in Jesus Christ, but this rocked the family to the core and strengthened them more than ever before. Philippians 4:13 became a motto for the Davis family: “I can do all things through CHRIST who gives me strength.” While Aleece was undergoing physical open heart surgery, the family was undergoing spiritual and emotional open heart surgery. Jacob and Lauren took this experience and applied it to their passion for sharing the gospel with others. Jacob was in the corporate world as an Executive in the Energy business for 11 years before surrendering to full time vocational ministry. He served as the Student Pastor at Woodcreek Bible Church and First Baptist Henderson. Jacob and Lauren also own a sports fitness ministry- Strong Heart Fitness Ministry. Jacob also serves as the Head Basketball Coach at Full Armor Christian Academy and the Character Coach/Chaplain for Henderson High School Football.
Henderson Associate Pastor
After 16 years spent operating nuclear power plants, I hung up my neutrons and entered full-time ministry in Fallbrook, California with the Calvary Chapel family of churches, finally retiring in early 2018 due to health reasons. Shortly thereafter the Lord led my family and me to move to East Texas, where we haven’t stop smiling ever since, and where God graciously returned me to ministry after my health was fully restored. In 2001 on a trip to Israel I met Amparo, the world’s most impressive woman of all time, and forced her at gunpoint to take my name in 2004. I haven’t experienced a dull moment since, and she has given me more joy and family than I knew was possible. Other than my family, my greatest love and passion is to teach God’s infallible Word and to help others grow in that same privilege.
I attended Bethel for the first time in 1982 as a sophomore Robert. E. Lee student — my family had recently moved to town from the Dallas area. After graduating from West Point and serving in Desert Storm I left the Army, married my wife Sarina, and started a business career. Over the next 15 years, I ran and built companies, and our family grew to six kids (elementary through high school). In 2009 I accepted the opportunity to join the pastoral team at Bethel, where I do whatever Ross tells me. I graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2012 with a MABS and finished my ThM in 2015. I enjoy hunting or fishing in my spare time outside of the family, work, and school.
Executive Pastor of Leadership & Strategy
Born in Fort Smith, AR, I grew up in the small town of Ozark. As a High School freshman, we moved to Henderson, TX where I met my wife Marla. We were high school sweethearts and married two years after graduation. I graduated with an accounting degree from the University of North Texas. Marla and I have three children, Kylee, Ufayse, and Marcus. I studied Christian Education specializing in youth and families at Dallas Theological Seminary. In December of 2016, I graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lousiville, Kentucky with a Doctorate of Christian Ministry, specializing in leadership. In my free time, I enjoy running, hunting, building with my hands, and buttermilk pie.
I love serving alongside our missionaries somewhere around the globe. It’s even better when I can take my wife Stefanie and our three kids — Joshua, Alexandra, and Maddie with me on mission trips. We all love crossing cultures and getting our hands dirty to serve missionaries who are working overseas, especially in unreached people groups. Helping others understand God’s love for all peoples from every nation motivates me each day. Most of my career has been in camping ministry, but for the past six years, I’ve been privileged to serve in Missions and Outreach at Bethel. My free time is usually spent cheering on my kids while they are playing lacrosse, volleyball, or soccer.
