Seattle Trip | Day 4 & 5

Seattle Mission Trip | Day 4

Today we moved at a slower pace than the rest of the week.  We helped Roots run some last-minute errands for the volleyball tournament and we put together goodie bags for the volleyball participants. One of the highlights of the day was serving at University District Food Bank. This is a free grocery store for the community and our team was able to greet their customers at the door, check them in, and help bag their groceries.  We were so thankful to help Roots Community Church continue to build relationships in their community and to meet so many of the local people. Our team had some wonderful conversations and we are praying that there were seeds planted that will lead people into a relationship with Christ.

We have also had time to reflect on the absolute beauty of Seattle.  We have been praying for the people that live in this stunning city and state to recognize and come into relationship with the Creator and Author of the universe!

We wrapped up our last full day in Seattle with the Roots volleyball tournament! It was a fun opportunity for us to get to meet more of the members of Roots and see the warm community they’ve built in what seems like a city full of loneliness. Our team handled a lot of logistics, giving the Roots team opportunities to invest in relationships with people who showed up.

We ended our week with dinner on the water and a team debriefing session. I think all of us were encouraged by the work we saw the Roots team doing—their clear vision of how to reach people by loving and serving their community, their faithfulness to keep serving through both dry and fruitful seasons in what is necessarily a long term mission, their willingness to invest in our team and help teach us about the Seattle culture. We’re all thankful for a sweet week of learning to engage people intentionally and see things with new eyes, and ready to get home and see our families!
