For the past 20 years, Jim Wilson has been training pastors and church leaders in Central America through IBAC (Bible Institute of Central American). Over those 20 years, Jim has been able to take IBAC to 7 different countries, and yesterday was a result of so many faithful years of ministry. Even with large amounts of rain falling 98 participants attended. In fact, we had to go print more materials because we ran out.
Yesterday the team taught on topics such as Five Targets of Preaching, The Art of Expository Preaching, The Science of Expository Preaching, and Constructing Big Ideas. Eric Barton also delivered a sermon on James 1 and after the group was led through a discussion to evaluate the sermon based on what they had been learning. It was evident by their discussion that they are understanding the material and are able to recognize the elements from the lessons. Also, each day during the institute lunch is provided. The food has been great. The local church has been preparing meals because most of the participants are walking or taking a local bus.
A highlight for the group today was hearing about a man in attendance. The father-in-law of the pastor of the church where we are meeting has been attending and he has only been a Christian for a few months. He shared with Jim that he was excited to be attending because he is learning so much and wants to continue learning.
