Meet the Adair Family in Japan (Robert, Roberta, and Joseph)
The Adairs serve in Northeastern Japan through Asian Access in partnership with a local Japanese congregation. Since the 3.11 disaster in 2011, they have been serving alongside Japanese Christians (who make up <1% of the population) to try and meet the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of the people impacted by this terrible event. Ministry consists of evangelism, discipleship, and leadership development. Roberta is involved in developing relationships and sharing her faith in our local community through English, surf ministry, and meeting other mothers. She is also the main connection for our church with a non-profit focusing on two islands devastated by the tsunami. Robert is involved in discipling multiple young men in our church as well as coaching a young pastor of a church near Tokyo. He also has mission responsibilities related to supervision and helping facilitate healthy partnerships between missionaries and Japanese churches. Currently the main focus of ministry is towards launching a church plant in the city of Shiogama at the beginning of their next term. Shiogama is a port town of over 60,000 people with very little Christian presence. The Adairs are working on building a team, initial contacts, and a plan to more forward with this plant. We are grateful for Bethel’s partnership in what God is doing in Northeast Japan. We feel loved, encouraged, and prayed for.
Please continue to pray that:
- God would help form the right team for the future church plant in Shiogama.
- People would continue to turn to Christ following the 3.11 disaster.
- We would have a healthy delivery of our second son (3/2 due date)
