For the first day of our trip, we spent the entire time traveling to Atlanta, Georgia where we would be serving with Bethel Missionaries, Scott and Marion Murphy, who work with international students at Georgia Tech.
On our second day, we spent the morning exploring the campus and getting to know a few of the students who the Murphy’s have made connections with over the last few years. The campus was beautiful as the trees were changing colors and leaves were falling all around us. The students were so easy to talk with and curious about our lives in Texas. While we would have loved to stay all afternoon we had work to do back at the Murphy’s! So we peeled 20 pounds of potatoes, cooked and prepared three pans of sweet potato casseroles, three pans of dressing, and two chocolate pies! As we wrapped up the evening, Travis was able to go with Scott to a study with two of the students who are searching for the reason for our hope. We are praising God for the encouragement we have felt from each other in our short time together.
On our last day in Atlanta, we had a great opportunity to learn about Chinese culture and to share ours. There were a lot of smiling faces and yummy food. We cooked and helped set up for the big meal. We had a total of 54 people (including hosts). This is the largest group yet! It was great to see fellow teammates sharing the love of Jesus over food! We enjoyed seeing what missionaries do and it opened our eyes to see how impactful a simple meal can be in the lives of the students.
