Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. – Ephesians 4:29
Bethel – Uganda served well today! At many points throughout the day, we could see different team members washing windows, scrubbing shoes, disinfecting toys, changing diapers, and playing with kids of all ages.
This team is soaking up so much from our surroundings as we are traveling, visiting with the nannies and speaking with Watoto leadership. One thing we have noticed the last couple of days has made a huge impact on our hearts.
We spoke yesterday about Suubi meaning Hope. One way these nannies give hope is through their intentionality with words. Whether they are picking a baby up, playing with a baby, changing a diaper or putting one to bed, they are speaking words of life to them. You hear phrases like: “You are safe now.” “You are protected” “Mommy loves you” “You are home now” “This hug is love” “We are family” “God loves you and so do I”. These phrases are literally used to give these abandoned babies a reason to live, they give hope.
Our prayer tonight is that we all take the time to think about the power of our words and to speak life and hope overall we come in contact with in the name of Jesus Christ.
