Rebecca Sorge – Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF)

The afterschool Good News clubs are winding down for the year.  One volunteer shares about two children impacted by the clubs.  A young girl was baptized last semester and quoted John 3:16 at the year end party.  A second foster child spoke the Word of God with boldness and strength – a big change from when he came.  Carolanne says, “These kids… are the most amazing people I’ve ever met. They taught me more about the love of Christ than any church congregation or Bible study. Watching them grow and conquer fears makes me think of how God must feel watching us grow.  I was there to bless them, but they blessed me far more.”  Several of their volunteers retired this year after 8+ years of helping.  CEF would love to have some new fresh faces to help with the Good News clubs next school year.School is almost out for everyone, and it’s time to ramp up for the summer.  CEF has a great summer program for kids to hear the gospel which they will present at some local parks or you can host in your backyard.  Their 5 day clubs are great for having your neighborhood kids over for fun with an eternal purpose as well.  If you are interested in helping as an adult leader, help with transportation, snacks, crafts, etc. contact Rebecca at 903-780-9203.  They would love to have you join them.

The newer area of outreach for CEF is the prison ministry.  They had a family day scheduled in May which had to be postponed due to a lockdown at the prison.  Watch the Bethel announcements for when this will be rescheduled.  We would love to have lots of people come and love on the kids and the families of those who are incarcerated.

Rebecca and her husband David attend the south campus at Bethel.  Rebecca has helped in the children’s ministry for many years, and David has served as a deacon.  If you are interested in learning more about CEF, volunteering, or helping with 5 day clubs, contact Rebecca Sorge at Ceftyler@sbcglobal.netor visit their website at

Prayer Requests:

  • Praise and prayers for the Van clubs – all students and volunteers were kept safe during the recent tornado.  Pray for their community as they continue to rebuild and recover from the storm.
  • Pray for the upcoming 5 day clubs – both in the parks and in people’s backyards.  Pray the gospel will be presented well and that the children who come will be impacted for eternity.
  • Pray for new volunteers for the Good News clubs for next year.  With several people retiring, they need some new people to come on board.
