Grafted Ministry: Meet the Grisham Family
Grafted Ministry exists to support families in all stages of adoption and foster care through relationships and resources. In 2005, when Phillip and Shalene Grisham were in the adoption process for the first time, they connected with an adoption and foster care ministry in the Dallas area. The relationships and support that grew out of that ministry became invaluable to them as adoptive parents. When they moved from Dallas to the Tyler area in 2008, Phillip and Shalene longed to find something similar in their new community. Realizing there was not a local group ministering to adoptive and foster families with support and training, they began to ask God if He would have them start a group. He answered that prayer, and on August 25th, 2012, the Grafted ministry was started at Bethel Bible Church.
Phillip and Shalene have four children – Alayna, Silas, Carson and Ryker. Phillip is a mechanical engineer at a small product development company in the sticks of East Texas. Shalene is a domestic engineer with a background in architecture and interior design. Quite frequently, she has the opportunity to utilize her design skills with Lego and Link’N Log construction projects and is perfecting her improvisational design and management skills every day at home. They have been hugely blessed by the miracle of adoption and through walking alongside other families who have embarked on an adoption or foster care journey. Their passion is to share their experiences and offer support and encouragement to others who have chosen, or are considering, adoption and foster care. To offer more support to these families, Phillip and Shalene have become Empowered to Connect Parent Trainers.
When a foster family receives a new foster child into their home, the child often arrives with little to no clothing or personal belongings. Through a partnership with Hangers of Hope, Grafted is able to assist foster families with some clothes for the child. Please contact Shalene at email@example.com for additional information.
