Italy Trip Day 1 & 2
Our journey for the trip began in Rome as we gathered at the airport and began the drive to Mosciano, As we left the city and began through the mountains, we were in awe at the grandeur of God’s creation that met us around every turn.
We passed through a 10k tunnel and stopped at a 16th century estate with the most beautiful gardens we had ever seen! We then stopped at a beautiful traditional Catholic Church filled with hundreds of people. While only God knows the heart, the service seemed to be missing something. There was dedication to attendance and “works,” but there seemed to be a lack of passion that comes with truly knowing The Lord Jesus Christ as personal Savior.
We traveled on to Mosciano where we met up with the Roberts and 11 young adults from the church in Milan who we will be working with on the outreach this week.
Sunday we worshiped with our new friends in Italian, singing familiar tunes with unfamiliar words, but we felt the oneness in spirit that comes from worshiping the same One True God. Hannah joined the Italians to learn pantomimes that will be used in the beach outreach this week while the rest of us met with Robby to talk logistics. We finished the night with great food: bruschetta and arrosticini (mutton kabobs) and fellowship, as we joined the entire country in watching the final World Cup game.
It has been a great beginning to our time here. We appreciate prayers for good weather, since most of our events are outside, and for God to continue to unify our two teams for the work ahead. Please also pray for those sharing testimonies this week that God would put His words in our mouths and bring us prepared hearts
