The Middle School Ministry of Bethel Bible sure knows how to kick summer off right! On Monday morning, a crew of upcoming 6th, 7th and 8th graders met at the Downtown Campus to begin a week of serving our city.
One of the greatest passions of our student ministry is to give every student the opportunity to live generously. We do this by following the model of Acts 1:8 which says,
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Just as the disciples heard the truth that the Holy Spirit would bring power to help them witness in their city, region, and all over the world, we believe that By God’s grace, the students of Bethel can witness in their city, region, and all over the world. We hope that by the time these students graduate they have served in all of these areas.
We start the process of living generously by creating opportunities for the Bethel middle school students to serve locally. By partnering with other local ministries and organizations we hope the students will see all of the incredible things that God is doing in our city, and that they can be a part of it by serving on a regular basis.
The students started the week off by helping with some major projects at the Downtown Campus and Foundry Coffeehouse. Tuesday, they partnered with the East Texas Food Bank to help kick off their summer lunch program. This was an especially exciting time as the students got to help lead and facilitate fun and games for local kids, then they wrapped up the day by serving with Gospel Village. If haven’t heard of this amazing local ministry, check them out at gospelvillage.com. We were really excited to be a part of what Gospel Village in doing through their local mentorship program.
The students have worked hard and served with joy. We will keep you posted on all that God is doing in this ministry over the next few days!
